Getting Ready to Give
It's been just three weeks since I started working with Kinship Mentoring of Columbia County and there's one question that keeps coming up no matter where I go. "When do we start?"
It's clear that the people of Columbia County care about the kids who live here. We want our kids to be happy, to succeed in school and in life, and to have caring adults in their lives that can help them through the hard times. That's what Kinship is all about. We know that matching kids with caring mentors will not only be helpful to the kids, but will make a difference in the lives of the mentors too, and will make our communities better as well. That's why we're putting in lots of work planning, preparing trainings, and putting together ideas of things for mentor/mentee pairs to do during this time of COVID and cold. We'll begin accepting mentor and mentee applications soon, as well as accepting referrals if you know a child who could use a mentor. Mentor/mentee matches and orientation trainings will begin in 2021. Keep an eye on our website for more details coming soon.
Don't forget that we're also a part of Giving Tuesday (December 1) this year! You can help out by posting an "unselfie" on social media and telling your friends why you're supporting Kinship Mentoring of Columbia County this year with a contribution of time as a mentor or as a donor. Make sure to include our website link for donations.
